MAJOR SEMI TRUCK TRANSPORT ROUTES IN MISSISSIPPI

Highways in Mississippi are often used to ship semi trucks throughout the state quickly and safely. Some of our most commonly traveled routes include:

  • I-20
  • I-55

  • I-20 is a commonly used route through central Mississippi, as it connects to numerous metro areas in other states, including Birmingham, Alabama. Its course through Mississippi is approx. 154 miles long, starting from the Mississippi River at Vicksburg. From here, the road travels eastward, heading to Jackson. In Jackson, the road merges with I-55 for a short while before separating east of the Pearl River. The road meanders on a winding, narrow route towards the Alabama state line just east of Meridian.

I-55 is a north-south route through Mississippi. It enters from the Louisiana state line near Osyka and leaves Mississippi south of Memphis at the Tennessee state line. Through the center of the state, the route parallels much of US 51. The I-55 then runs concurrently with the US 98 as it passes through the western edge of Summit and McComb before intersecting the US 84 by Brookhaven. Near Crystal Springs, US 51 runs concurrently right up until Jackson. At Jackson, there are several alternative routes, including the I-20 and US 51 that run together with I-55. Once outside of Jackon, I-55 continues north towards Ridgeland, Grenada, Batesville, and Hernando, before crossing the state line near Southaven.
